Co-Founder and CTO UniHack

UniHack is an education and data company, delivering blended learning to equip young people with the tools, network and motivation to solve the world’s biggest problems. This approach includes on-campus hackathons and challenge events, and the recent development of an online platform to enhance student learning. Since our official launch in July 2016, we have run 8 full weekend events, engaging 16 universities, and over 300 students. Additionally, we also have a developing schools programme for further education institutions. As a startup co-founder, my role is varied, but includes: - Developing and delivering our event workshops and training sessions, with audience sizes ranging from 20-100 individuals - Building and harnessing relationships with higher and further education institutions to tailor our packages to their needs - Capturing data on all our events, including the workshops and training sessions, to ensure we continue to develop the programme inline with both the students and institutions’ needs More recently, I have moved into the role of CTO, where I am in charge of developing the online platform, in addition to my roles with the offline events. My experience running UniHack has been incredibly beneficial, providing me with a platform to develop my skills working with students and young people. I have become more confident in content delivery, and making sure that trainees leave our events with the knowledge they need.

I have also developed a bespoke CRM system to track mentors, allowing the Board to measure impact and provide quick feedback to the Enactus UK staff team. In my position as Technology Lead this year, I am expanding the platform to cater for other needs in the Alumni network.

Board Member Enactus UK Alumni

As a Board member for the Alumni Network (2012-2014 & 2016, voluntary) I was initially in charge of developing the medium to long term strategy for the organisation. I was subsequently elected to head the Mentoring Programme, responsible for matching the needs of student teams with relevant experience from mentors across the country. I have also developed a bespoke CRM system to track mentors, allowing the Board to measure impact and provide quick feedback to the Enactus UK staff team. In my position as Technology Lead this year, I am expanding the platform to cater for other needs in the Alumni network.

As a Mentor (2012-present, voluntary) I use my experience and expertise to currently support 6 teams across the country. Mentors are often the first port of call, and being able to respond quickly and positively to challenges is vital. In 2013 I was awarded ‘Mentor of the Year’ in recognition of my services to the network, and in 2014 won 2 further awards including ‘Best Training’.

Resource Centre Development Enactus UK

Developed and modified a Wordpress based site to act as a portal / knowledge repository for Enactus UK students. Project included modifying existing plugins, and adapting them to unique and specific use-cases.

Do It For Real UnLtd

Do It For Real is a joint venture between Spirit of 2012, Comic Relief and UnLtd, mobilising social entrepreneurs through knowledge sharing, and enabling young people to start, grow and build social action projects. As part of the DIFR scheme, I work with young social entrepreneurs sharing my knowledge, acting as a talent scout for UnLtd's Award Funding, and providing pre-application support to help develop and hone their ideas up to application level. Volunteers also take responsibility for the assessment of applications that are supported through the cohort, as well as providing all support to the successful applicants after they have received their funding.

UnUrban Navigator UCL Institute for Global Prosperity

Part of UCL, the Institute for Global Prosperity runs a summer school for 100 students looking to improve their CV and create social change, as part of a UCL-wide summer programme. My role was to act as a Navigator, directly responsible for the experiences of a group of around 20 students throughout the course. This role included: coordinating the day-to-day running of my sub-group, and making sure tasks ran to time running a day-long workshop on Human Centred Design, in partnership with Mensch running an afternoon of training on Pitching and Public Speaking, to help the students develop their content before presenting their work to the wider UCL programme

Social Enterprise Manager Student Hubs

Student Hubs is a charity whose aim is to mainstream student social action. As their Social Enterprise Manager, I developed a nationwide incubation framework for social action projects across 10 universities. This involved developing the structure and content for a Social Enterprise Curriculum that would be ubiquitous across the Student Hubs network, and ensuring that all student-facing staff were confident in delivering it. My role included: - Training other staff across the country to become confident in providing the framework to their students - I was also in charge of running the more technical training for a range of audiences, including students and graduates, covering a range of topics including Impact Measurement, Project Management, and Budgeting. - As well as providing general oversight to all staff, I directly managed a member of the Oxford team, overseeing their professional and personal development within their role - Organised the marketing and logistics for Emerge 2014, a national social enterprise conference. This included managing stakeholders’ interests in the event, aligning both speakers and corporate sponsors The Social Enterprise Manager role allowed me to develop experience in programme building, and ensure that the training could be adapted to become relevant to a wide range of skills and audiences.

Organised the marketing and logistics for Emerge 2014, a national social enterprise conference. This included managing stakeholders’ interests in the event, aligning both speakers and corporate sponsors.

Cambridge Programmes Officer Student Hubs

Before being promoted to their national team, I joined Student Hubs as part of the Worthwhile Graduate Scheme. My role as Programmes Officer for Cambridge involved working directly with students developing projects, providing guidance and support, and running training to help them succeed. As well as the one-to-one support of student entrepreneurs, my role also saw the expansion of the Social Innovation Programme - a scheme designed to give students experience in working directly with charities and startups and creating solutions. The role involved not only managing the expectations of external organisations, but ensuring that the work undertaken by the students developed their own personal and professional skills.

Campus Party Coordinator Telefonica

Part of a team organising the 2013 edition of ‘Campus Party Europe’, the largest technology festival of its kind. The weeklong event saw over 10,000 attendees and 500 hours of content at the O2 Arena in London. - Researched, contacted, and secured over 40 relevant speakers in the space of 3 months. - Managed the content for 5 separate areas, requiring effective time management and prioritisation. - Responsible for managing the budgets for each of these stages, requiring precise record keeping. - Managed relationships between various corporate interests, showing diplomacy and professionalism.
